Halahan Associates offer collection care and conservation services for a wide range of clients. Our extensive knowledge of collection care, gathered over twenty years working within institutions and as consultants, enable us to provide pragmatic and appropriate advice to deliver our solutions on time and within budget. We work closely with our clients, facilitating the delivery of a result tailored to your needs.

 

Frances Halahan and Jennifer Dinsmore have been working as conservation consultants for many years in conjunction with other colleagues. These colleagues come from a range of disciplines and provide extra specialist knowledge and skills to the projects we work on.

 

Frances and Jennifer are both PACR accredited members of the Institute of Conservation. The practice is listed on the Conservation Register. Both Frances and Jennifer have considerable experience within conservation and collection care management which allows them to appreciate the complexities of preservation of individual objects and also collections, thus enabling their use and continued access. Frances and Jennifer have considerable experience of teaching and training in conservation and collection care to conservators, non-conservators and the public.

 

 

Associate Profiles

Frances Halahan FIIC, ACR

Education: Institute of Archaeology, Archaeological Conservation

Frances started her professional career at the British Museum and has worked as a conservator with the UK and internationally for both the public and private sectors. She was course leader of the Conservation Studies Course at the City and Guilds of London Art School until 1996 when she concentrated on conservation consultancy. She is author of Looking After Antiques and also Household Secrets, both published by the National Trust.

Jennifer Dinsmore ACR, MSc

Education: Winterthur/University of Delaware, Conservation of Artistic and Historic Works of Art.

Jennifer has worked in a number of national and international institutions including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; the University of Pennsylvania Museums, Philadelphia; the Victoria and Albert Museum and the British Museum. She was course leader of the Conservation Studies Course at the City and Guilds of London Art School from 1996 – 1999 and continues to teach at the School.
